Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. Here's how Ramble handles your data.
Your Data Stays on Your Mac
Ramble is a local-first application. All your recordings, captures, notes, images, and personal data are stored exclusively on your Mac. We do not have access to your content, and it is never uploaded to our servers.
Analytics (Optional — Mac App)
To help us improve Ramble, we collect anonymous usage analytics via PostHog in the Mac app. This is optional and can be disabled at any time in Settings.
When enabled, we collect:
- Anonymous device identifier
- App version, operating system, and system architecture
- Aggregate counts: captures, spaces, sessions, and usage (e.g. widget opens, spotlight opens, captures created)
- Usage event names (e.g. "search opened", "capture saved") with minimal, non-personal properties only (e.g. capture type or error category). No content, URLs, or identifiers beyond the anonymous device id.
Website Analytics
Our marketing website (withramble.com) uses DataFast to collect anonymous traffic analytics — page views, referral sources, and aggregate conversion events such as download or checkout clicks. We do not collect personal content, recordings, or account data through the website.
DataFast may set cookies to distinguish visitors. You can block analytics scripts with a browser extension or ad blocker. For questions about website analytics, contact support@withramble.com.
What We Never Collect
- Your recordings, captures, notes, or any content
- Screenshots or images
- Personal information, browsing history, or pages you haven't explicitly captured
- Keystrokes or clipboard data
License Validation
If you purchase a license, your license key is validated with our server to activate the app. No personal data is shared during this process.
Disabling Analytics
You can disable analytics at any time by going to Settings → General and toggling it off. Analytics are enabled by default to help us improve the app. If you prefer not to share any usage data, we recommend disabling this on first launch.
International Users & GDPR
Ramble is operated from México. If you are accessing the app from the European Union or another region with data protection laws, the following applies:
- Your personal content is never collected. It stays on your device. GDPR obligations around personal data access, portability, and deletion do not apply to content we never see.
- The only data we hold is an anonymous device identifier used for analytics (if enabled) and your email address if you signed up for download or purchased a license.
- You may request deletion of your email or any associated data at any time by contacting support@withramble.com.
- If you prefer analytics not be collected, disable it in Settings → General.
